About Cedar Hill Sanctuary
Our Story
At Cedar Hill Sanctuary, we are a family-owned and operated business pending IRS approval as of March 20, 2025 submission, for non profit 501 (3) (c) status. Our mission is to inspire compassion for animals, the land we live on, and each other by offering a safe, welcoming space where people and farm animals come together to experience growth, healing and connection.
Cedar Hill Sanctuary is situated on 10 acres of land in the Lydick section of South Bend, Indiana. Five of the acres have on it 3 barns, 3 chicken coops, a school house, a general store, and front and back pastures. Another five acres are used for farmland. There is an 1860 farm house on the land that is not part of Cedar Hill Sanctuary.
What We Do
At Cedar Hill, we provide high-quality, specialized care to farm animals, offer farm animal education programs, art therapy and education programs for all learners, with a focus on neurodiverse youth and adults, and provide experiential therapy to ensure the Cedar Hill community is accessible for everyone.
Our Farming Practices
At Cedar Hill Sanctuary, we believe in sustainable farming practices that promote the health of our land, our crops, and our community. We use natural fertilizers and pest control methods, rotate our crops, and conserve water to ensure that our farming practices are environmentally responsible.
Trees and shrubs, including evergreen, mulberry, maple, oak, boxwood, holly, dogwood, hydrangea, and lilac, all contributing to the diverse and vibrant ecosystem of Cedar Hill Sanctuary are not to be removed or trimmed without prior approval by the Board of Director.
